چکیده

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are chemically recalcitrant carcinogenic and mutagenic compounds with primarily anthropogenic origin. The investigation of the effects emissions from energy enterprises on soil microbiomes is a high priority for modern science. In this study, metagenomic profiling technogenic contaminated soils was carried out based bioinformatic analysis shotgun metagenome data PAH-degrading genes identification. use prokaryotic consortia has been often used as one bio-remediation approaches to degrade PAHs different molecular weight. Since process PAH degradation predominantly includes non-culturable or yet-to-be cultured species, highly recommended studying composition metabolic abilities microbial communities. whole sequencing DNA two varying levels performed. control site, total content 12 262 µg kg?1. background in polluted site 3 more rings exceeded this, at 800 abundance taxa associated these sites were estimated. Despite differences concentrations up 1200 kg?1, individual operon-organized almost equally abundant diverse pristine areas. most numerous both spots actinobacteria Terrabacteria group. addition well-known degraders such Gordonia Rhodococcus, corresponding found Azoarcus, Burkholderia Variovorax. shows non-specificity multifunctionality pathways encoded microorganisms.

Bacterial diversity and reductive dehalogenase redundancy in a 1,2-dichloroethane-degrading bacterial consortium enriched from a contaminated aquifer

BACKGROUND Bacteria possess a reservoir of metabolic functionalities ready to be exploited for multiple purposes. The use of microorganisms to clean up xenobiotics from polluted ecosystems (e.g. soil and water) represents an eco-sustainable and powerful alternative to traditional remediation processes. Recent developments in molecular-biology-based techniques have led to rapid and accurate stra...

Bacterial hydrocarbon-degrading consortium from Antarctic soils.

Removal of contaminants from polluted environments could be improved by taking advantage of the catabolic capacity of some microorganisms in a process called bioremediation. Nowadays, the use of microbial associations (also called microbial consortia) is gaining attention, because they seem to have a wider degradation spectrum than that exhibited by isolated strains. M10 is a bacterial consorti...

Metagenomic Analysis of a Biphenyl-Degrading Soil Bacterial Consortium Reveals the Metabolic Roles of Specific Populations

Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are widespread persistent pollutants that cause several adverse health effects. Aerobic bioremediation of PCBs involves the activity of either one bacterial species or a microbial consortium. Using multiple species will enhance the range of PCB congeners co-metabolized since different PCB-degrading microorganisms exhibit different substrate specificity. We have ...
